Sun Screen Can Save Your Life

Sorry to keep pounding away on Green rants but we've fucked up the ozone layer so much that sun screen is a MUST for people who kick it outdoors a bunch. And uh, we live in Southern California so unless you're a shut in (does that include us 9-5 working stiffs?) you're outside enough to warrant sun screen use. Nowadays you can get SPF 100+, geez white folks, eeeaaassy!! But the truth is the amount of chemicals used in SPFs over 50 contain large amounts of harmful chemicals than can seep into your body (think the way nicotine and birth control patches work). Since professionals recommended reapplying often anyway stick with SPF 30-50 and just reapply every hour, after a big sweat or after swimming to keep yourself from burning, getting more wrinkles than you should and limiting the onset of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers. It accounts for nearly half of all cancers in the United States. Don't forget overlooked places like behind your ears, scalp parts, between your toes and hard to reach areas. Getting a friend to help you apply sun screen is not only sure to cover more skin surface but can also be very sexy. **WINK**

Sun Screen Wisdom

SPF 30 Blocks 97% of rays
SPF 80- Blocks 99%
SPF 100- Blocks 100%

-You should apply the equivalent of 1 Shot glass of sunscreen on your body
-Look for sunscreen with both UVA and UVB rays
-Don't forget other sun blocking agents like hats, visors, umbrellas and sunglasses (eyes can get screwed up without protection too!)
